Control exchange on WOTAN Rapid 2 boring machine

Scope of modernization (electric)

  • Replacing the DC feed motors with three-phase servo motors.
  • Replacement of the DC main spindle motor with a three-phase asynchronous motor 1PH7.
  • Installation of new position measuring systems for feed and rotation axes as well as main spindle.
  • Replacing the old control unit with a new control panel with handwheel.
  • Dismantling the old control cabinets with Bosch controls and paper tape readers.
  • Assembly of the new control cabinet with Heidenhain iTNC530 control.
  • Machine downtime during the control modernization: approx. 2 weeks.

Drive modernization on a “flying saw” (manufacturer Dreistern)

Scope of modernization (mechanical and electrical)

  • Dismantling the wear-prone feed drive with pinion and rack.
  • Dismantling the old machine frame.
  • Assembly of a new machine base frame with linear guides, direct measuring system and magnetic strip.
  • Linear axis with wear-free Baumüller linear motor unit.
  • Safety shock absorber as a mechanical end position limitation.
  • Cooling unit for the water-cooled linear drive.
  • New drive and power cabinet with control and power section.
  • Integration of the new drive components into the existing INDRAMAT control.

Technical data

  • Synchronization of the axis speed to the production speed of the material.
  • Maximum travel speed: 120 m/min.
  • Acceleration and deceleration: 10 m/sec².
  • Feed force: 11970 N.

Control replacement on AMNI DB400 CNC grinding wheel lathe machine

Scope of modernization (electric)

  • Replacement of the DC feed motors with flange- and shaft-compatible three-phase servo motors.
  • Feed motors with EnDat absolute encoders.
  • Replacement of the motor power cables of the X and Z axes.
  • Installation of the motor encoder cables for the X and Z axes.
  • Dismantling the old control unit and installing a new unit with handwheel.
  • Dismantling the old control cabinet with Siemens System 3 control.
  • Assembly of the new control cabinet with Siemens SINUMERIK 802Dsl and SINAMICS power units.
  • Machine downtime during the control modernization: approx. 2 weeks.

Control modernization on WAC guideway grinding machine 30-30 SNC 5050/12 m

Scope of modernization (electric)

  • Dismantling the old electrical control cabinet with Siemens SINUMERIK 880.
  • Assembly of the new electrical control cabinet with Siemens SINUMERIK 840D and 611D power units.
  • CNC control of 11 axes.
  • Siemens SIMATIC S7-300 with decentralized peripherals and comprehensive and universal support.
  • Dismantling the old control unit and installing the new control unit.
  • Replacement of all GL motors with Siemens 1FT7 three-phase servo motors.
  • Replacement of the old Heidenhain measuring systems with new direct length measuring systems.
  • Attachment of two length measuring systems to the crossbeam adjustment, thereby eliminating the need for QB-Niveltronik.
  • Replacement of the existing Kessler GL main spindle motors on universal and circumferential supports.
  • Compensation of geometry errors via the CNC control.
  • New cabling for universal and circumferential support with separation points at the beginning and end of the energy source.
  • Creation of new electrical CAD circuit diagrams and machine documentation.

Modernization of a Biesse Rover 16s woodworking machine (built in 1989)

Scope of modernization (electric)

  • Dismantling the old DC motors for the X, Y and Z axes.
  • Assembly of flange-compatible Siemens 1FK7 servo motors with EnDat absolute encoders.
  • Dismantling the existing control cabinet with old NC control.
  • Construction and installation of a new control cabinet with Siemens PLC positioning control and CU320 with SINAMICS drives.

Description of the machine

  • Processing of wooden slats and wooden panels for the furniture industry.
  • Machine with 14 drilling spindles, pneumatically presented.
  • Pneumatic clamping of the workpieces.
  • Alternating processing of the workpieces possible.
  • Tool management of 14 tools with calculation of tool lengths.
  • Selection to present 2 tools at the same time.
  • Enter the drilling positions in the X and Y directions.
  • Data management of the drilling programs in the control.
  • External program creation possible, transmission via USB interface.

Modernization of touring test stand for grinding wheels (manufacturer AMNI)

Extent of modernization

  • Conversion of the swiveling protective hood to a linearly guided protective hood.
  • Completely new workpiece clamping using a quick-release screw.
  • Revision of the spindle bearing.
  • Installation of sealed main spindle bearings for higher test speeds.
  • Monitoring and locking of the protective cover at speeds greater than zero.
  • Adjustable testing time of the workpieces.
  • New paint according to RAL.
